My life is not a fairytale. But I'm so glad to have a wonderful family and lovely/sweet/adorable/fun/angelic/witty/boisterous/derisive/nasty/malicious friends around me. They complete me, complete my story. Happily ever after. A priest, an ophthalmologist, and an engineer were golfing one morning behind a particularly slow group of golfers. The engineer fumed, "What's with those guys? We must have been waiting for fifteen minutes!" The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such inept golf!" The priest said, "Here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with him." He said, "Hello, George. What's wrong with that group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?" The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes. That's a group of blind firemen. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we let them play for free anytime." The group fell silent for a moment. Then the priest said, "That's so sad. I think I'll say a special prayer for them." The ophthalmologist added, "Good idea. And maybe I could examine them to see if there's anything I can do for them." They were silent for a moment. Then the engineer said, "Why can't they play at night?"

What do you see, nurses, what do you see? Are you thinking when you are looking at me —— A crabby old woman, not very wise, Uncertain of habit, with far-away eyes, Who dribbles her food and makes no reply When you say in a loud voice, “I do wish you’d try.” Who seems not to notice the things that you do, And forever is losing a stocking or shoe. Who unresisting or not, lets you do as you will, With bathing and feeding, the long day to fill. Is that what you are thinking; is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse, YOU’RE NOT LOOKING AT ME! I’ll tell you who I am, as I sit here so still, As I live at your bidding, as I eat at your will, I’m a small child of ten with a father and mother; Brother and sisters, who love one another; A young girl of sixteen with wings on her feet, Dreaming that soon now a lover she’ll meet; A bride soon at twenty – my heart gives a leap, Remembering the vows that I promise to keep; At twenty-five now I have young of my own; Who need me to build a secure, happy home. A woman at thirty, my young now grow fast;
Bound to each other with ties that should last. At forty, my young sons have grown and have gone, But my man’s beside me to see I don’t mourn. At fifty once more babies play ’round my knee, Again we know children, my loved one and me. Dark days are upon me, my husband is dead, I look at the future, I shudder with dread, For my young are still rearing young of their own, And I think of the years and the love that I’ve known. I’m an old woman now and nature is cruel – ‘Tis her jest to make old age look like a fool. The body it crumbles, grace and vigor depart, There is now a stone where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass a young girl still dwells. And now and again my battered heart swells, I remember the joys, I remember the pain, And I’m loving and living life over again. I think of the years all too few — gone too fast; And accept the stark fact that nothing can last. So open your eyes, nurses, open and see, Not a crabby old woman — look closer — SEE ME.
This poem is written by an unknown elderly woman before she died in a geriatric hospital in Scotland. A nurse found the poem while going through her possessions after her death. But they did not bother to remember her name. "Yes, it’s true. Tiw’s remarkable myth involves women with beards (more on that in a bit.) Regardless, the past 1,000 years or so have not been kind to this Northern European divinity. To make a long story short, it seems that Tiw used to be a big shot, up there with Odin and Thor in Norse mythology. He may even have been chief of the gods. But culture can be fickle and cruel. Think Miley Cyrus replacing Hillary Duff. Nowadays it’s not clear who he was exactly, or how to pronounce his name. We just have hints. There’s a lot to like about Tiw: He’s a war god, associated with courage and combat. He may have had a female companion named Zisa. And listen to how he lost his hand: There was a huge wolf named Fenris who was prophesized to eventually kill Odin, king of the gods. Understandably, the gods decided to restrain the beast while he was still growing. Fenris kept breaking his tethers, so the gods asked the dwarves to use their magic to craft a super leash called Gleipnir. This is the best part (the women’s beards): “It was made of six things: the noise a cat makes in foot-fall, the beard of a woman, the roots of a rock, the sinews of a bear, the breath of a fish, and the spittle of a bird. And though thou understand not these matters already, yet now thou mayest speedily find certain proof herein, that no lie is told thee: thou must have seen that a woman has no beard, and no sound comes from the leap of a cat, and there are no roots under a rock.” (From the Prose Edda.) Fenris wouldn’t let the Gods bind him with Gleipnir unless one of them stuck his or her hand in the wolf’s mouth. Only Tiw was brave enough to do it. Snap! That’s how Tiw lost his hand. But at least the poor guy still has the day between Monday and Wednesday." -------------------- dictionary.com

Hello stranger is a good show to catch if you don't know what to watch! Don't watch Narnia unless you are with kids...
Hello stranger is in Thai (with English subtitiles of course) but filmed in Korea. They did crazy things like eating an octopus live! and stripping down to underwear when its snowing! (it is not r(a)...) A funny story of 2 strangers who met abroad, each with his/her secret. You would think they end up as a couple? hmmm... not really. it was kind of sad in the end. A tough choice for them to end their trip to Korea like that.
I went to catch this movie with marcus and xinni at GV plaza sing! we walked and walked the whole of orchard before the catching the show at 920pm, finding no meaning, till we were bored. We even went to the arcade and see the people who were (or looked) addicted to a fishing game. they had containers of coins with them!!
Narnia was boring! It was nothing like the first Narnia and my expectations were way too high for it. not exciting and i thought some parts were lame. the only part i think was nice was about the dragon. how he helped others and fight to protect them. the most meaningful character is Reepicheep, the large talking mouse, who is so wise and caring in the movie. overall it is a movie more suitable for kids.
"he demanded a divorce because his mistress did not want us to be husband and wife any more."
this is one of the dumbest, ridiculous thing i have heard. how can anyone be controlled totally by others. what is wrong with them?
it wasn't so much of the loyalty that i first thought of. it was why humans can be this vulnerable. we can be controlled by another being, in this case by lust, or by guilt, hatred, money, peer pressure, fame, and whatever you can think of.
I am really curious what goes up people's mind. Is the "slutty third party" so evil to plot this scheme and to suck away all the money that the "pervert uncle" has and to dump him after that? Did the "uncle" find his true love even though he has kids at home to love and an "aunty" at home, who is like a maid? Did the the marriage not work out because they did not love and care for each other anymore? Did they get married because they were match-made? Was it the "old-hag aunty's" fault that her husband left her and their kids? That she was being too naggy, lost her charm and attractiveness, nothing but a burden? Were the kids too mischievous, like "untamed animals", always giving troubles that causes the family to break?
who's fault is it?
May be i'm bias when i asked those questions but it may happen both ways. Having affairs i mean. I am bias because I got bias news/stories. There is a higher percentage of males who get into affairs!
Is this what modernization has brought us to? no commitments or temporary love, and fun... cuz we only live once. I am not saying this don't happen in the olden days but now that I'm living in this era, in a developed country and seeing so many cases of infidelity, it bothers me, a girl that sees positive in everything, that this is society.
What if this is happening to my friends? my relatives? my brother or sister? or even myself?
Is there no ending to this... is there no cure?
don't tell me about any religion, it is another story.......... cuz keeping a faith doesn't keep affairs at bay. It ultimately boils down to what sort of values you have and what kind of person you want to be. Facebook got this new function that ease tagging. I think its super cool! currently there's no error but not ALL faces are grouped together. they couldn't detect some of my photos. still........ cool........... what logistics is about....
nice song! catchy tune!
| | it was a break, away from school, assignments ans projects! it is FYP that is actually killing me.. =X
anyway we went to catch a movie, Due Date (sounds like a synonym to dateline), which has a impossibly "suay" and "heng" storyline and was quite funny from time to time.
I went back to a familiar place, Far East Plaza, which i visited less than 3 times since i came back from China. It was my favourite hangout place. JK was shocked how familiar I am to Far East Plaza. haha. I tried on a very nice dress, texture is great, fits well and comes with a nice elastic waist belt. However, I can't think of much occasions to wear it. I would have bought it if I WAS myself. =P
We walked back to ION for dinner to Go! Go! Curry! that is famous for Japanese black curry! JK had this craving since the last time we went ION. We shared a plate of Grand Slam, which is a double serving of pork katsu. Although the black curry did not set fireworks in our mouths, as expected to, it was not bad. Prok is good, meat is tender. The rice is damn ALOT. I guess 4 girls can share this Grand Slam. It comes with 2 sausages, one fried Ebi, one egg(i like it, cuz it was soft and melted at once in my mouth) and salad.
Such a nice day out. (: |
 | midnight | Oct 24, '10 12:35 PM for everyone |
its midnight. end of my recess week and my heart feels so squished. my head keeps reminding me of things-to-do, deadlines and quizzes. i can't help but blog about this, hoping it would make me feel better. i practically went back to school everyday as if it was not a recess week. where is my break? I want to stop and not do anything related to school but i don't have the heart to do so. i just can't.
why am i doing this to myself?
 | sarang | Oct 18, '10 10:20 AM for everyone |
| | Collection of our Nike Race Pack - A chance for us to walk-walk along orchard rd.
we ate lunch at Sarang, a korean restaurant in Orchard Central. They have a bar outside the restaurant, not very big inside, and i think it would be good to chill at the open concept bar at night. The scenery should be good at night rather than in the daytime as you can spot unsightly construction sites.
Service is two thumbs up! maybe because there is not much crowd? Price is reasonable for us. It cost around $55 for 2 with that amount of food we ordered. One seafood soup, one meat dish(a must with lettuce!), one bi bim bap, one soybean tea each and korean ice-kachang!
p.s. surprisingly all their waiters are guys! and the bartender is a lady! |
Foods That Extend Time Eating foods that are good for you can make you feel better not only right now, but in the future as well. Here are three tasty foods to keep you happy and healthy for years to come!
1. TomatoesLycopene is an antioxidant in tomatoes that helps your eyesight and, if you're a man or love someone who is, may help reduce risk of prostate cancer. Tomatoes are also rich in vitamins C, A and K, as well as potassium and fiber.
Benefits: Tomatoes can help keep your teeth, bones, skin and hair healthy, plus lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
2. White Tea
Though not as well known as its green counterpart, white tea actually has more antioxidants than green tea.
Benefits: White tea can help reduce risk of some cancers, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and help promote healthy teeth, skin and gums.
3. Salmon
Salmon is filled with antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, as well as protein, which helps keep you full.
Benefits: Salmon can help prevent blood clots, slow age-related cognitive decline and reduce inflammation.
4. Apples Loaded with flavanols, apples are a great source of antioxidants and nutrients. Besides keeping your skin from wrinkling and promoting hair growth, apples contain antioxidants that protect against cardiovascular disease and cancer development. Sprinkling some cinnamon on an apple or pairing it with cheese or peanut butter makes for a tasty and nutritious snack. Benefits: Helps with bone protection and relieves asthma, helps prevent Alzheimer's disease and lowers cholesterol. Prevents certain types of cancers and diabetes, and aids in weight-loss management. 5. Berries From blue to black to acai, berries are great superfoods that are super for healthy aging. Loaded with antioxidants, berries are naturally sweet, providing for a delicious snack, topping or dessert. One cup of strawberries contains over 100 milligrams of vitamin C—almost as much as a cup of orange juice. High in nutrients and low in calories, the beautifully colored fruits are loaded with flavanols that help prevent disease. Benefits: Help prevent heart disease and cancer, control blood glucose, slow aging, sharpen brain function and improve vision. 6. Spices Spices like cinnamon have a hefty amount of health benefits for such a tiny grain. Cinnamon alone can decrease blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol, as well as improve your bowel movements due to its fiber content. Tumeric helps arthritis sufferers, and paprika and cayenne pepper can help fight high blood pressure and improve circulation. The list goes on. In addition to short term and long term health benefits, adding spices adds flavor, which keeps you fuller longer. So shake, shake, shake some spices onto your next meal. Benefits: Cinnamon— can lowers blood sugar, cholesterol. Turmeric, rosemary, paprika— can slow cancer growth. Ginger— Can decrease motion sickness and nausea, may relieve arthritis pain.
